- "support our magnificent armed forces"
-
just not this time huh?
It's not their fault that they're there, getting set up and killed or mamed. I don't support the war, but the brave men and women who have to do what their commanders tell them is an entirely different matter. Their families live in or near poverty while their bread winner is sent, repeatedly, to a far foreign land and when the wounded guardsmen return, their lives become very tenuous as our esteeemed governemnt does little to rehabilitate or support them. If the government lets them down (like it has to most veterans in the last 10-30 years), that's a travesty that no American should allow.
You might know this if you were really more aware of what's going on, as you put it, "." Is that extended exposure due to the extra pixels you get in your Hi Def news broadcasts that must plainly not be from Fox. Where the hell does that come from anyway? I don't watch Fox and acutally get little news from the idiot box anyway - there are far better sources in print and on-line (many of these are news feeds from global sources and not filtered by the media conglomerates or politicized news vendors).
As for my neighbors, they have set their own priorities and they choose to live where it cost most people a small fortune to visit for a week or two. Our nearby beach is very aptly called Paradise Beach and is owned and maintained by the county as a park. BTW most of them have lived there since childhood and bought homes when they were less than $100k, like me. I could afford to buy a whole lot off crap, but what's the point. I don't wish to be a slave to my possessions. I do save my money but for the day that it's needed for retirement, an emergency or to save a life - maybe mine (cancer survivor), my wife's or maybe even my mother's. I have been legally dead. That changes your perspective and values in fundamental ways.
When your life style is stress free and active, you stop caring about all of those expensive things that create stress in their acquisition, maitenance and content prices, even as a hobby (unless you're quite well off in the first place). You know, we can't all be rich and connected enough to camp at a friend's villa in the Bahamas. And you claim you're not rich, what a hypocrite.
With all of the activities you claim, how do you find time to watch the stupid things anyway? Between bimonthly trips to the mountains and jaunts to the islands, the gym, work, and sleep, there must not be much time to enjoy your expensive hobby. All the best to you too. I am glad that you have found a hobby that is so rewarding. - Posted by: msolgeek Posted on: 08/18/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
