Sony is a disaster.
For the same reason you mention I refuse to buy any Sony CD-R or DVD+/-R discs. On the one hand, they're all about piracy, but on the other hand, they have no problem selling you the blank discs. Sony gets zero $ from me these days. If more people were like myself and the previous writer, things would change. Put your monry where your mouth and your beliefs are people!
