- will be a war
-
I think there will in fact be a war, and backward compatibility in addition to players that can play both HD DVD as well as BluRay will be the winners. Anyone trying to "push" strictly one format will ultimately IMHO lose. I own over 700 DVDs and while I also have and love HDTV (I own 2 and have DTV HD), I'm quite happy watching DVDs in the quality they are now sold in. There is NO WAY I will pay more for the HD discs. There is also no way I will buy a player 1. Before a winner is clearly a winner (yes, I did get severely burnt on Betamax). 2. Until universl players are available and also backward compatible with regular DVDs and CD playback (if in fact both formats look as though they will survive). 3. Until prices come waaaaaaaayyyy down, and yep Sony that especially applies to you and the makers and sellers of your BluRay.
I'm just a consumer here and not a professional, but I have an awful lot of money tied up in my audio/video gear (it is absolutely considered "high end"), and it's probably the opinions of people like myself that the manufacturers should be most aware of. I have no problem in waiting out this war! - Posted by: conchyjoe7 Posted on: 08/17/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
