Next-gen DVD war could be messy--or not

No War at all

There is a third possibility in this so-called war. IT departments and software vendors are more interested in capacity than screen resolution. I believe you will see a hybrid dual format consumer version that attaches to the home TV, and at a reasonable price in 2007. IT departments will save Blu-Ray because of capacity and Disaster Recovery scenarios. The DVD writer/player on IT Servers and corporate laptops/PC's will be Sony's savior. The general public will demand the dual format player for home. Some movies that are in high demand but are in different formats will cause the "detente"
