Very true
What you've said is very true--for the majority, the top factor in choosing a PC seems to be cost, rather than performance, service, reliability, ease of use, or any other metric. I always find it fascinating to try to figure out how various markets get to be the way they are. Would you accept the same level of issues you have with your computer for your television? Your toaster? Your automobile? Sure, it breaks down every 100 feet, but it was really cheap.
