People get what they pay for...
Ask anyone that has sold PCs about trying to get people to buy an additional warranty or service contract. Doesn't happpen, users shop for the cheapest machine that will do what they want.

If company "A" sells a box for $500 but has a history of poor support, and if company "B" sells the same machine for $600 and has great support, users will pick company "A" (cheaper) 99% of the time. Of course a few months down the road they whine to high heaven about poor support...
