Not surprising
Everyone has a particular style of writing; and rarely depart from it.

They're not able to positively identify a person using the phone by their texting style; but they are able to arrive at a statistical probability that the person using the phone matches their texting profile.

Of course when people toss down dollars for a 1 in 80 million chance to win the lottery; a 9 in 10 chance that you have a match with a text profile looks like a sure thing.
