- Your comment on goverment is correct...
-
"So what you're saying is that the government says "you must do
this or that, so you do, and they say "that's perfect". 2 years later
they come along and say "We changed our mind. You can't do
this or that anymore, so since you did what we told you to do in
the past, we're going to fine you now""
Yes your above statement is correct, it's happening to small
mom and pop to fortune 500 companies. Talk with CPAs, tax
attorneys and the like, sadly you'll hear horror stories about the
goverment being completely unreasonable.
Truly I'm not making excuses for Apple nor for any other
company the SEC and IRS is now looking at; as you may have
read in business news reports there are many that are re-
evaluating their reports. My comment is as you stated,
government changes the rules then backdates them, GAAP that
was correct the past isn't now. Please notice the IRS changes and
adds their rules every year.
My reading in business journals and the like Apple based on the
newer rules they themselves found something that may be in
question so they're looking into it. Do notice that many other
corporations have found themselves in a similar situation.
True any company can be greedy, Enron etc. however, being
accused doesn't make one automatically guilty (many times it's
just a perception) that's why there are judges, juries, finding
accused to be innocent.
To use your logic "it sounds as though someone is trying to
make Apple appear corrupt".
There is much more to be said on this subject, I'll leave that to
others more eloquent than I. - Posted by: RicD_ Posted on: 08/12/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
