HD DVD could be a good thing, because or in spite of Microsoft
Well, love Microsoft or hate 'em, but the fact is, a win for HD DVD could be a good thing. It's got plenty of capacity (yes, Blu-Ray's got more, but they are both so large, does it really make any practical difference?) It's easier to manufacture, and can be made on existing equipment, so it should be less expensive for consumers. And (like it or not) having Microsoft support will encourage widespread usage, some as video-related and some as data-related applications. If the anti-Microsoft crowd could calm down and see this objectively, it could actually be a good thing. I don't love everything MS has ever done, by I am certain I don't trust Sony.
