Question and Commentary...
Am I the only one who thinks ZDNET is a shameless shill for Microsoft? They seem to focus on negative news about Apple, and the majority of their Microsoft coverage is always very positive. No one outside of Redmond has seen or used one of these things and ZDNET is already singing its praises.

I can't help but wonder how much of this sites budget is contributed by Microsoft. Some real and unbiased reporting would be a welcome change.

I can?t wait to see the new toys that will be revealed at the WWDC, though Apple usually doesn?t introduce things like the iPod at it. It will be interesting to see if Steve bucks that trend or will Apple do a special event within a week or two after. They may also wait to show off the new wares shortly before Microsoft?s debut to steal some of Microsoft?s thunder.

Rumor has it that Apple will release Tiger shortly before Vista to capture some of the headline space that will be extremely prevalent on sites like this one. It seems Steve Jobs has become very adept at not letting Microsoft get too far ahead in competing products. He learned some very hard lessons when Apple was usurped by their own short sightedness and hubris in the mid nineties.

Competition is good, but the way I see things, Microsoft seems to embrace mediocrity. I doubt the Zune will break the iPod?s dominance. Apple seems able and very capable to stay a few steps ahead of Redmond. Knowing Apple?s tenacity at keeping their new wares under wraps, I look much more forward to the new iterations of the iPod, than this supposed product that has been labeled the iPod killer. To quote President Bush ?Bring it on.? Time will tell of course, but my bet is still on Apple.
