Slow compared to USB2 or Firewire
---How would WiFi be glacially slow---

Transfer 10 Gb of music via 802.11 and tell me how speedy it is.

---Cell based music services are actually doing VERY well internationally and are being heavily invested in the US where they are likely to be a success---

Can you point to any stats that show success of such a service? Ringtones sell, to be sure, but songs?

And given that in the US, all the songs cost 3 times what they cost to download from iTunes, I don't see any success any time soon.
