Alright .... about time the consumer complained

This has been the biggest consumer ripoff ever. You look in your flyer and see something for a good price in LARGE print ... then you see those 'after rebates' or 'after savings' or 'instant savings' things and a micro-print of the retail price.

What happened to the good old days when it just said "On Sale" or "For Only"?

The states (if you live in the U.S.) would never make these kind of deceptive practices illegal because they receive sales tax on the FULL retail value of the item.

I always thought that the prominent price should be the one displayed in the largest text. The 'prominent' price should be the price that you would pay at the register plus the appropriate sales tax .... and NO MORE. Any more than that is deceptive in my book!

You see an ad for something for $299 and you have to pay $599 for it at the register, and then send in one (or more) rebates to collect the difference. These rebates can be a complex chore (cut this out ... make a duplicate of that ... circle the correct item ... mail this one to here, that one to there .... etc). If you screw up any of that, you are put into "rebate limbo".

I think that my worst gripe is that they give you an expiration date of the rebate .... 'Ends Nov 30" ... you bought it in August so you have time. But when you decided to finally fill it out in Oct, you read on the rebate that you "must submit it no longer than 15 days after the purchase date" .... what a bunch of BS!!!!!!!

I think ALL rebates should be illegal!
