what the pros use
I work in a film and television postproduction environment. Although I do not work in the full time "QC" department, among other things I do some real-time quality control of newly created broadcast masters and screener dvd's etc...

Anyhow my point is in any broadcast or post facility you will find two types of monitors for content: large size external projectors with proper screens and CRT's. There are a few SDI LCD professional monitors available but we've demoed a few and rejected them all for being less versatile and for smearing. We do, however use LCD's on all of our PC's and macs, as it keeps the desks tidy.
