Missing a HUGE opportunity...
Dell, and every other Box-Builder is missing a great opportunity. Instead of throwing $100 million at the problem and HOPING to solve thier support problems, it might be better spent lining up thousands of the small, local shops like mine that have the experience, expertise, and staff to diagnose and resolve issues LOCALLY for their customers. If you take that $100 million, divide it up into 5,000 local contracts for support, that gives Dell a presence in 5000 locations that would have otherwise been impossible for them to do on their own at that price. We service every brand out there, and there is very little difference among any of the systems we see on a daily basis. What we hear is "I'm tired of jumping through the hoops with (name your company) and would rather PAY YOU to get my system running again." Support centers in Bangladesh don't do it for most of the customers we have come in, and shipping a system off for weeks or months as some have recounted, is not an option for most customers either. Until Dell and the others figure this out, they will continue to suffer in satisfaction surveys, and the businesses like mine will continue to benefit from their lack of understanding. Keep it up Dell, we salute you!
