RE: More Powerful
>Is the P3 not more than the Xbox 360?

As far as I can tell that's still debatable. I've seen a lot of posts today claiming this vast power superiority, but everything I've read in tech journals, from developers, etc. put these 2 systems a lot closer in power and performance than the hype machines. From everything I've read it seems the cell definitely has the edge as far as raw power goes, but the 360 has a more powerful graphics engine. Until game developers learn to use the mutliple cores of each more efficiently it also seems the advantage may fall in the 360's court.

Don't get me wrong, the PS3 is a powerhouse of a system, but Sony has a way of way overhyping the technological capabilities of its systems (all manufacturers are guilty of overhyping, Sony just has a way of blowing the really thick smoke up your arse.) Weren't we just a few months ago hearing that the PS3 was going to include 2 HDMI ports to drive 2 1080p signals at a time?

As far as gaming performance I don't really see a major advantage of either of these systems over the other. In fact, it seems after the Sony press conference last night there was a decent amount of chatter that the graphic capabilities weren't much (if at all) better than what's available on the 360 today. From Engadget's/Joystiq's blog on the conference while viewing GT4...

"As we zoom down the Tokyo track demo, it doesn't appear all that much sharper or higher quality than PGR3. A quick side discussion verifies that it's not just me. The foliage doesn't look so hot."

"The draw distance isn't that hot either. We can see buildings in the distance pop into view here and there. It's a very attractive racing game, but not heads and shoulders above PGR3, which is our basis for comparison. What you are seeing now is 1920x1080i HD."

Granted, it's still 6 months from the release and it was a demo, not a finished project, but still, once polished that doesn't sound like anything beyond a day 1 360 game.

>If so if games take full
advantage of the XBox and thesame on the P3 won't the P3 win?

This is something we'll have to wait to see. Once these systems are a few years old and developers have really learned how to get the most of them we're going to see games that make PGR3 look sad by comparison. PS3 titles are goign to have the advantage of a more powerful CPU (and, since I haven't mentioned it yet, more storage capabilities in the form of bluray dicsc) where 360 games are going to benefit from a better graphics engine. It'll be interesting to see how they compare e3 2009.
