Eventually the iPod will fade; maintaining interest has required great marketing skill. And the government will once again lose interest in the behavior of the RIAA companies.

Then the companies will be able to ignore Apple completely, set the price lists as they wish, and assure that there is a standard, non-Apple DRM on all new media.

If you think that Apple has profited well from iPod and iTunes, wait until you see the contribution DRM makes to Microsoft's balance sheet.

Once again Apple has contributed to providing Microsoft with dominance of a market. No wonder Bill Gates is so appreciative.
