apple -- rotten at the core?
How did controlling unconfirmed gossip and speculation about some new product development morph into an "intellectual property rights" issue? This catch-all "right" has now grown so huge that it is being applied to every bit of publicity that anyone (armed with money for lawyers) decides to object to.

Now, if someone had freely distributed Apple's schematics and software for a new computer-related technology that was being developed and guarded as a company trade secret there might be a case here.

But if a low-level employee simply decides to shoot his/her mouth off prematurely you got another issue. It may be annoying and unwelcome to Apple management, but they have no "right" to conduct a witch-hunt using the public legal system (that we all pay for) to attack anyone who dares report something about Apple or its products that is not taken from an official Apple press release.

The posts here that claim otherwise are kinda stupid and obviously written by those who have never tried to gather information on hot issues that moneyed corporations and/or big governments would rather see ignored.
