breaking and NDA is not illegal
It completely legal. An NDA is a contract that says you will not disclose detail on something. The contract details the damages that will be applied if this contract is broken.

Just pointing that out. Breaking a NDA on it's own is not criminal. Releasing trade secrets is a crime. Also military contractors often sign these agreements too but they can also be charged with Treason for leaking details.

Breaking an NDA is not even immoral. What is immoral is hiding behind a blogger and not accepting responsiblity for breaking the NDA. If I choose to break an NDA then I'm ready to accept the damages I sign on for when I signed the contract. You won't catch me hiding beind a law to protect journalists.
