- It's going to be slow

Too many large companies have signed long term contracts with
an OEM and that is going to have an influence on some apps like
SAP.
Others, like Adobe and MS are moving as fast as they can on
their major products and they should be delivering around the
end of the year or early 2007. Some companies are taking
advantage of that - like Parallels pushing MS on VPC in a very
big way.
There is also the fact that Apple has not completed their
transition to Intel. While they were 6 months ahead of schedule
for the first Mactels they still have to deliver the PowerMac on an
Intel and also the servers. I think WWDC was moved to August
this year in order to be able to release the PM with a Meron
processor.
Another factor will be Leopard and how it handles Win apps.
That may well influence some companies to use MacBook Pros
for employees on the road. The objective would be for them to
use OS X for internet and email and Win for those apps not
available for a Mac. That was my approach for overseas
business travel - using VPC and 2000 Pro. It eliminated any
concern with malware and let me focus on business instead of
protecting the computer.
Overall I believe Apple will gain some in enterprise over a period
of time, but that market will take a back seat to other markets
that are delivering good growth and solid profits. - Posted by: Ken_z Posted on: 04/19/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
