I'm not saying there aren't.
But the grouping of technology buffs is fairly small when compared to the overall market. The trick is getting the technologically illiterate to buy something. iPod is a great example. There were plenty of mp3 players out there. Technogeeks bought their favorites, and the market was running fairly low key. Then the iPod clicked with people and drove the market into a frenzy.

Compare that with the CDTV vs CD-i flamewars that I used to see on old BBS's. The technogeeks bought whichever they preferred, and trash-talked the other. Both sides argued over which would control the CD based gaming market. The mass market never noticed the things and both are now nothing but teeny little historical footnotes.

I can see HD disc adoption being relatively slow outside of consoles and PCs. I'm not predicting anything. All I am saying is it's a distinct possibility that the market may not care enough for there to be a winner before the next format comes along.
