The LaserJet 4, and all other printers that used the Canon EX engine, were great printers.
They only had one flaw. The paper route design caused every single page to have a curl about 3/4" from the top of the page. Absolutely nothing you could do about it as it was inherent in the design of the paper path. It wasn't a big deal for short documents, but if you tried to bind up a multi-hundred sheet document that curl multipled with every stacked page and eventually became quite noticeable.
IMHO, the best printer ever made, past or present, were the old Canon SX engine based printers such as the Apple LaserWriter II, HP LaserJet Series II, etc...
You threw a fuser at them every now and then, and maybe an A/C power block on occasion. Maybe, if someone did something REALLY stupid, you'd have to re-string a corona occasionally (admittedly that job sucked :)). Other than that they were literally tanks. - Posted by: BitTwiddler Posted on: 04/14/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
