That's a good idea!
In many areas, the term for patents is way too long, like with copyrights. Depending on what area the idea covers, the term for the "patent license" could last from a few years to a decade or two. It won't get rid of patent trolls completely, but it would be a step in the right direction for the patent system.

RIM is doing the right thing by taking the patent problem to the masses to help spur much-needed reform.
