I used to have a pair of sony's
with the pad that clamped to your ear, not over it. SO they weren't boxy, but still had good bass. Had to have 'em just right on your ear, but they were really soft and comportable. Can't get 'em anymore though. Sennheiser has a series that works the same way, but not as isolating in my opinion.
Really, you absolutely HAVE to try headphones out yourself, due to hearing prefs and different music and your ears vs my ears, etc. etc.
