a repeat of the year 2000 - The Rise and Demise of Net Appliances
The Rise and Demise of Net Appliances
Starting back in about 2000 there started an era of Internet appliances! Indeed visions of the future!

There was the Compaq IPaq Home Internet Appliance, Honeywell Webpad and 3Com heralded the Ergo family, including Audrey.

The technology wasn't ready for what people expected. The LCD screens were too expensive to let vendors sell the products at reasonable prices and as time passed... they became obsolete! One would home with the new Intel Origami running windows XP this will not happen.... but wait.... XP is to be replaced by Vista.....

We should hope thee is a way to bring the new operating systems onboard when they arive...

We have a curious collection of these net devices... and of course are always looking for more... the hardware, interviews with developers, photographs, documents anything related.
