It depends on how it's configured.
If you configured it with RAID 5 for example the risk increase as you data is spread across all 5 disks but the redundancy will save you if one fails. Having a 16 disk raid array however means you will have greater chance of 2 disk failure meaning your hosed anyways. There is alway Raid 10 though or going for Raid 1 but that would double the amount of disks you need.
