California bill would bar toxins in gadgets

You make me laugh

This is just stupid.

First, this isn't going to make the manufacturers change their ways. They ain't going to readjust their process just because a single state wants to drive up their cost. All this will do is to hurt companies like Walmart, Target, Bestbuy, CircuitCity and alike because now they have to re-tune their shipping and shelving strategies to accommodate the law.

Second, don't the batteries used in these gadgets more toxic than the gadgets themselves?
