Here No_Axe goes again, folks.
So, No_Axe you recommend that everyone should 1) patent something, 2) sit on their butts, 3) wait until someonelse commercializes the invention, and then 4) sue them? Whatever happened to Mr No_Axe the bright-line mind who hates lazy people?

The numbered situation above is exactly what happened to RIM. An idea was formed. Investment was made. A product was developed and sold. Along comes a guy who did nothing more than pay 2,200 in filing and maintenance fees and who produced nothing for the good of society or the economy; he says "give me a share of the profits, because I beat you to the patent office and sat on my butt all these years while you took the risks."

Since when are you, No_Axe a man who wishes to reward indolence? I thought you and your grand ideals stood for rewarding risk? I guess I was wrong...

The patent system rewards lazy people and the court system rewards companies who close their eyes. Far better, BitTwiddler opines: if one fails to commercialize; one should lose some monopoly grants under patent. Not that I agree with BT, but his is one solution - even if it does favor the large inventor over the small one.

No, I'm sorry, No_Axe, but your rejoinder was inflamatory and inappropriate.
