Patents finally rejected
It looks like the writing may actually be on the wall (please see the Bible for the reference) to the way in which the US Patent Office has been granting patents in software implementations. Oscar Wilde had an observation about losing up to three things - five would seem to be rather excessive. The really serious problem is that these findings seriously undermine the whole validity of this class of patents, And that can undermine a whole industry that has based its existence upon having a 'mystical' value of patents, a value that is now significantly weakened, if not entirely removed. Perhaps some corporations would do well to quickly amend their strategies to go build and sell products instead of waiting to try and screw those that do?
