Sony sucked way before the rootkit thing!
I can't even say how much I despise Sony after going through Hell synchronizing my $350 NetWalkman MiniDisc player with the whole check-in check-out thing. I only had legal music, yet Sony made life more difficult than any other company I've ever been with. And since then I've owned many (cheaper, but better) music devices. I've told all my friends about the proprietary, buggy, annoying software that will not be replaced if lost. Forgot the name of that check-in check-out software, but I'll tell you, it was so inconvenient to use and so offensive for Sony to assume I own pirated music. Just last month I had another issue- my brother gave me his CLIE and I thus need the PalmDesktop software. But get this- just like the NetMD software I mentioned, if you need to download PalmDesktop... YOU HAVE TO BUY IT AGAIN! Pay retail is the only way Sony will give it to you. Even if you can prove you own the CLIE (serial # is all Handspring requires).
And what other company makes the customer download proprietary "Taxi" software just to download even just a patch. It's just like the proprietary NetMD check-in check-out software I couldn't escape from (until I threw out my NetMD and got a USB MP3 player for $270 cheaper). I cannot imagine ever buying another Sony product ever, I'm so serious my experiences with Sony has never been positive and stands out above the rest in terms of inconvenience (and expense for that matter). Really, I'm a generous reviewer of companies. I always rate what I buy on Amazon and the like 5 stars except in the extremely rare case the seller is a crook. I rarely complain. But Sony has given me such a horrendous experience that I just cannot buy something from Sony, lest the fault become mine when the horribly overpriced uninventive product makes life tough beyond any competitor. You remember that USB MP3 player I mentioned? Drag and drop interface. The Sandisk Sansa MP3 player I bought since? Same. I recommended the Archos and Zen to my bro and sis and they're happy with theirs.
And can you believe it? I e-mailed these things to Sony for their own improvement's sake, and I simply got a generic response telling me to call Customer Service if I have a problem with a Sony product! They blew their last chance to impress me- by listening to feedback!
The video camera may seem like a technological advancement, but there's no way I'm falling for Sony again! - Posted by: athlon Posted on: 02/21/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
