Gee, Maybe My Applications Will Work!
I was excited about getting my Intel iMac. But gradually I became more and more frustrated. Rosetta seems to not touch so many of what I often use. My third-party $300 orchestra plugin package for GarageBand no longer works, custom actions for Automator are dead and all of my plugins for iMovie are useless.
I think it was a misrepresentation by Steve Jobs to give the impression that all would be well under Rosetta. I appreciate the move to Intel, and I can understand why. But I do not like having an expensive piece of hardware lose 25% of its useability out of the box. If something does not work, we should be told before we buy. And who is going to tell us? The guy at the Apple Store? The reviewer online? Nobody knew because nobody was told.
