Marketing is a part of it

But not the whole thing. Yes, iPods are advertised on television,
but I see ads in magazines constantly for other players (I'm so
sick of seeing that damned Napster cat). While the iPod is not
revolutionary, it does have an extremely good user interface,
both in terms of organization and in terms of physical usability.
And those things are very important in consumer products, and
not easy to do (note that no one else has a player that's as easy
to use as the iPod).

And I'd argue that there are very different standards for what is
considered "good enough" in a consumer electronics market,
versus the computer market (whether for consumers or for
business).
