Like facing the 800lb Gorilla
The iPod is like the 800lb gorilla, there isn't anyone out there that will overtake its current market position due to the great combination of Hardware and iTunes.

Apple has managed to break into pop culture where everyone has an iPod now, not just techies so there will need to be a format change before anyone will be able to compete with the iPod.

I think the next big thing is mobile video and it looks like Apple is already locking that market down.
