So much nothing chat about a license to use Copyrighted works.
The whole point to the GPL is that it is a license to use other peoples Copyrighted works. Under Intellectual Property Law, you need a license to use any IP (Copyright, Trademark, Patent) that belongs to another party. Every source/Copyright license (GPL, BSD, CDL, etc.) sets restrictions that the author of the work feels protects their own rights to benefit from said works. The people who rant against one license or another (you know who you are) are all in some way unethical and probubly infringers or clueless about Intellectual Property laws and what they mean (though one could discuss the merits of one developer license versus another). No license means that you are an infringer of other people rights (since you have no granted rights from those that own the intellectal property in question). Amazing why this is so hard for some people.

Granted, the GPL does take a stand against DRM, though this has more to do with what the GPL is designed for (developers, not generic end users like those who get a TiVo or some random device). DRM can be handles either via an application (Real Player, Quicktime Player, Windows Media Player, some document/word processing application, etc.) so it does not have to be working with any chip level DRM/Trusted Computing hardware.
