Why a player for the Mac makes sense
MS wants WMA and WMV to be the dominant format for media.
They make money from licensing these formats, and they make
money from the DRM they create to go with these formats. So it
only makes sense for them to make these formats as universal
as possible. The more people who can use them, the more
business that means for MS.

That's why Apple makes QuickTime for Windows and OSX.
That's why Real makes players for Windows, OSX and Linux.

The only reasons I can see for not making WMP for the Mac are
1) technical incompetence, or 2) trying to use access to media as
leverage to get you to buy a Windows machine over a Mac.
Neither of which are good for you and I, as consumers.
