I assume then, that you're not one of those crying about Apple
restricting FairPlay to just the iPod, and not supporting WMA
files on iPods either, correct?

Both practices restrict you to particular devices or operating
systems and try to leverage access to content into getting you to
buy a particular device/OS. Which is not a good deal for
consumers, as we'd all be better off with an open market that
allows products to compete solely on merit. So why not cry?
Sometimes, customer complaints actually make a difference to a
company.
