You don't give up anything.....
I didn't give up anything, but rather gained by going to Satellite (sirius to be exact). You don't have to listen to Stern if you don't want to, he's only but 2 channels out of more than a hundred. There's almost every music genre you can think of plus talk, sports and weather. And it's commercial-free and cyrstal clear. What more can you ask for? Regular radio is free but I hate hearing the same songs everyday in between dumb commercials.

I have a plug and play unit that I use both in the car and at home and there are now portables that fit in the palm of your hand. For a little over $140(including activation) a year it's well worth it in my opinion.
