$100 PC
"With no software costs, a $100 pc is no problem. And most of the world doesn't need a 10jigahertz, 512 googlbyte machine to acomplish what they need!
"

Right on! (BTW -- I like your system of measurements, complete with a jigahertz & googolbyte wink But alas -- your point makes a lot of sense! Besides, when people cannot afford laptops, almost any computer will feel like a powerful one! And if Linux is the O/S on these laptops, well -- great for Linux, because this may give it a nice boost in popularity! It would be great to see people in these countries (i.e. China, Brazil, India, Argentina, Egypt, Nigeria and Thailand) prove that while having the "latest & greatest" PC/laptop is cool, simplicity works quite well, and will get the job done.

I hope this plan works out well.
