Makes sense to me
I managed to avoid the iPod craze until a couple of months ago ...not intentionally -- I just didn't need one. Then a friend gave me a 10GB click wheel model. It has proven to be a handy little gizmo. Then my kids said, "Hey...cool!", so I figured what the hey -- I'll get 'em iPods for Christmas. So when I got to Apple's web site, the choices are the Nano, the Shuffle, and the new video thing, none of which look very appealing to me...and of course the 10GB click wheel model is long gone, a victim of Apple's constantly churning product line evolution.

Then I thought to check the refurbs that Apple sells... lo and behold, there are iPod Minis galore in all sorts of colors (that happen to include my kids' favorites). I snagged them; they include the full Apple warranty, and they're considerably less expensive than the ones reported in the story above.

In my opinion, the Mini is the best combination of small size, high capacity, and high functionality in an audio-only device. Until someone gives me a video iPod (and that's probably what it will take to convince me that I "need" one), I have no use for that device...at least none of which I'm currently aware.
