Parents should make sure they tend to their children
in more than just video games, and that locking everything down won't solve parental issues especially for those people out there who don't parent or don't parent effectively. Of course, Hilary will also introduce tougher parenting laws as well, . . being that she's thoroughly fed up with the past generation of latch key kids raised by the tube and such (not that she would know, a nanny must have been there for her child).

My take, the industry needs to police itself in the ratings board, whereas adult and mature content can still be produced, just not marketed and distributed to the underaged as established by the board and community standards. Nobody should be actively seeking to introduce mature themes to underaged kids, yet no one should be seeking to stillborn the advent of mature themed games for their target audience, adults (who have grown up with the industry and are looking for more than just pong). Stopping the production of adult and mature games stunts the growth of a market that has a grown market to sell to, but retailers as well as some parents need to be held accountable for materials (porn, over-the-counter and under-the-counter and illegal drugs, firearms, explicit games, etc) getting into the hands of their kids. Changes in the times never let parents off the hook for parenting, which in a number of high profile cases seems to be lacking yet not discussed in the media and by politicians.

Then there are statistics, . . . magical little charts and numbers that can support any position if turned just the right angle. Some politicians see the statistics saying youth crimes are up and correlate a connection to all mature and violent video games because of a citing here and there of influence by. Well, if the mind wiping and programming were so rampant, those politicians and parents should stock up on Depends and food and hide in their shelters now, . . but they are actually more dangerous than their kids. Others see statistics of the current thirty something generation on an upswing of violence, home domestic and street crime and a decline in youth violence. Lots of numbers but who's really more violent and influencing? Wonder which polls and stats Hilary pays more attention, media attention to.

Right now it seems very true what I've heard, today games are what yesterday's music and TV were to politicians, (an easy target) not completely understood nor taken as a legitimate culture and art form as well as economic entity. Darn you kids and your Elvis and his pelvic swiveling, . . he'll be the downfall of a nation, . . let's ban him from the airwaves, . . . Black Sabbath too and that darn Ozzy Osbourne, he'll never be on TV like those darling Osmonds. Have you seen the way Mario's been eyeballing Princess Toadstool, . . I see a sexual harassment trial in the makings.
