Holiday Sales will be in the dumps this year

If what I saw in a local Chicago mall district this morning is any indication, holiday sales will be in the dumps this year.

While the lots were full, there were no lines extending out of such staples as BestBuy or WalMart. The store I went to, last year had a line, this year, I arrived 15 minutes before opening time and was #2 in line. I walked around, got everything I wanted and left in 19 minutes. A personal record for Black Friday.

I pored through the sales flyers in yesterday's newspaper. There were 250 different store flyers. Not one of them had anything that said to me "Gotta have,..Musta have." An unexciting holiday shopping season if you ask me.
