Microsoft to Purchase AOL (irritating)
How irritating it is that after killing Netscape by monopoly power, being found guilty of anti-trust violations for doing that, and in spite of remedies such as divestiture in the form of dividends, that Microsoft actually expects to purchase into AOL/Time Warner. (AOL/Time Warner is Netscape.)If ever there was a purchase meant to kill off a competing technology this is the one. Microsoft's Bill Gates pet project is Television Integration and considerable resources were pumped into that with no return todate because no one will play with the bully anymore (as is correct in proper society).

Microsoft's settlement with Real Networks - in effect making them an offer that could not be refused - was step one in what is a falling off the anti-monopoly wagon by the drunkard executives. This likely resurgence of the use of monopoly power at Microsoft doesn't appear to be on anyone's radar. Some have told me that some things do not need to be vocalized because everyone knows what is going on.

Alas, while the world is entertained by the Bush melt down, evil doing on the corporate monopoly front raises its head. Nothing to be done by most like me except be irritated.

On a positive note Marvold - ex Microsoft executive - has taken a stand against his former colegues in the patent issue with the University of California. Perhaps there is one who can be more than just irritated at continued failures to reform the criminal organization.
