PCs plagued by bad capacitors

I've seen several MB's with

blown caps. The one thing I've noticed is they seem to be involved in powering cooling fans off of the MB. From case fans to north bridge fans and even CPU fans.

Once the fans get older and performance is affected, they begin to draw more current. I don't believe it is bad capacitors as much as bad fans. MB circiutry is not stout enough to drive fans - period.

I suggest removing the fans power connector from the MB and drive it directly from the power supply. Since I started doing so about a year ago, I have seen no blown caps.
