As with insurance companies, or any other company, the company itself never takes the hit. The "liability" is passed onto consumers while the CEO (the hypocritical twerp who justifies his high salary and golden parachute on the claim that being a CEO means you're respnsible for every mistake and as such are easy to be disposed of) continues to rake it all in.
