Still a great value!
I still think it is well worth it. First, being able to listen to virtually any song you want whenever you want is far more convenient than buying individual songs, not to mention far lest costly. And if there are songs that have some emotional meaning to you, you can buy them at a reduced costs and keep them forever. As to the argument about them increasing the price even more, well, that's what competition is all about. The great part about renting songs is that if one service gets too expensive, you can just switch to another one. Of course if all your music is in Apple's proprietary DRM, then it would be difficult switching to something else using WMA format which many more manufacturers use. While you would still have to re-download your portable collection of music, it is still better than not being able to play the music on the player of my choice.

Lastly, with Yahoo's service specifically, you still get to you Yahoo's magnificent Launchcast service which by itself is like having your own personalized music collection run by a automatic DJ. It is by far the best streaming internet radio service out there in terms of matching music to your interests. So between, that and the unlimited music playing even $12 per month is not unreasonable.
