Courts take power
US legislative cowardice led to the courts' ursurping or the perogatives of popularly-elected legislatures. Now, it appears, executive incompetence has opened doors to the courts' issuing of executive orders. The fight over judge appointments in the US relates to the courts' real new powers unenvisaged by framers of our constitutions. It would be nice to eleminate -- at least to be able to ignore -- legislative and executive political advertising. Who is running for judge?
