- Actually Pete Apple has the ability to activate MS protocols
-
on the iPod anytime they wish. They also probably have the
ability to add music rentals to iTunes when it is proven needed.
The real question for Apple is why do it at this point? Apple is a
business and it would be finacial suicide to give up its number
one position and take the chance of becoming just another MS
vassal until there is no other choice, and I respect Apple's deisre
to fight that till there is truly no other choice. Right now and for
the forseeable future Apple is not in a position to just hand over
control to MS at least yet.
If in the end MS's software runs on all MP3 hardware devices
then Apple is mearly a vassal and subjigated to the control of MS
either get out of the MP3 player business or do what MS
demands. It's that simple the kind of the hill rules the
roost..PERIOD END OF STORY!!!
Apple would prefer to remain Apple and not become just
another MP3 clone maker to MS's Windows like control of the
MP3 player market.
