Next Printer Won't Be HP!!!
I do not print a lot so the first few cartridges I purchased had lasted my years. I purchased a cartridge less than a year ago and it ran out of yellow ink. I now know a warranty date exists. It's on the cartridge and on the box in very small print. I unknowingly purchased one that was 4 months from expiring. HP tech support says I should have known about it and provided no help. Now, I have purchased my first inkjet cartridge refill kit.

inkreplacement.com is only $5- less than Staples.

I read a few years ago that HP has hard coded in the cartridge a stop functioning date. To test a used printer to see if it works I used my ink cartridge since it fits well. No luck but the cartridge would no linger work in my printer so I had to buy a new one.

When I replace my printer it will not be an HP but one that does not gouge me on new cartridges.
