Govt cracks down on ink cartridge scheme
whereas the makers of an ink cartridge try to force customers to use only their inks by patented their inks, adding chips to the ink cartridge so only their printers recognize and use their ink cartridges, will not work with 3rd party ink cartridges, do not show the level of ink inside cartridge allowing for putting in less in weighted cartridges, having ink formulas that cause ink to congeal or dry out faster than regular ink, and oh yes, filing lawsuits to bar competition. But some of that's just nitpicking.
