Apple, it's a love/hate relationship
Big kudos to Apple for designing a product that makes you want to own it, even with an inflated price. Big "dumbfounded looks" to a major error on Apple's part to alienate 1st generation iPod users by making new accessories incompatible. If only they'd learn from their many, many mistakes during the mid-90's and take a lesson from Sony's wildly successful PlayStation backwards-compatibility streak.

BUT WAIT! It all makes sense now. Instead of having the foresight (and arguably bad idea) to limit or control third-party proliferation from the beginning, they have seized the opportunity with this redesign. Instead of encouraging new, cool, third-party plug-ins with incentives, they're trying to throw their weight around to make MORE money and retain MORE control. Hmmmm, sounds like another company that Apple seems to not want to be associated with. Could it be...Redmond?
