Since hardware isn't where the money is why would they use OSX to sell hardware? That doesn't make sense unless you only consider the IPOD.
This why I think OSX only runs on Apple specific hardware. I believe that Apple controls what hardware OSX will run on in order to optomize the OS to the hardware. Something Microsoft doesn't do and look at all the problems. When you buy OSX software it works while in the Windows world you might find you need to upgrade. So Apple avoids this problem and users are happy not needing to worry about supported hardware for thier software.
Now if Apple allow OSX to run on any hardware they would be giving up one of the only competive edges they have over Microsoft. What would be the difference between OSX and Windows if suddenly OSX was crashing because you put some wierd video card in that you got in a boxing day discount bin?
